Dr Colin Church, a Senior Official at DEFRA has stated recently that the Government is not in a position to provide financial stimulus to help the UK move towards a circular economy.
Here at EEESafe, we're deeply entrenched in the Circular Economy and are leading the way with an innovative model, that is inclusive of all Stakeholders. From asking consumers to think about new ways of purchasing household appliances, to running a Training Qualification that links to community benefits in its outcomes.
Dr Church said, “We have to be very careful because we are in a time of paucity of public funds, so if you ask me what the Government are going to do, one of my answers is not going to be – get some money out.”
“This is a time when we are looking for business-led solutions and not a time of saying ‘we have got a problem here, so let the Government solve it for me,' that is not the space we are in here and now.”
He is also quoted as saying that Businesses need to lead on this, and we hope that DEFRA and Dr Church will welcome our initiative and promote us a good example of what can be done.
The Ellen MacArther Foundation's report says, a move towards a circular economy could save the EU between £220bn and £250bn a year.
Lets stop creating Waste on Electricals. Repair, educate and look after our communities by keeping the older appliances local and purchasing new Appliances via EEESafe will help all that happen.
