According to research recently completed , E-Retailing will increase to hit £50 Billion in 2018. Read the Verdict Research Article
One of the key drivers for the growth is the fact that more and more shoppers consider online shopping to be as enjoyable, or even more enjoyable, than traditional shopping. In a survey of over 10,000 online shoppers, only 4% more people considered physical shopping to be more enjoyable than online, compared to a 25% gap 18 months ago.
As physical retailers appear to be losing their advantage in ‘enjoyment’, they need to work harder on giving people reasons to enter their stores, through improved customer service, events and so on. Both men and 35–54 year olds already find online more enjoyable than physical stores.
It seems that “Showrooming” is on the increase now and retailers are encouraged to do more to get people in to the premises. What an Opportunity for Community and Local Retailers and even the Large Brands to get active on the back end of this great research.
For EEESafe Centres this is good news, as we're looking to partner with more Retail outlets, including large UK wide Chains, where some interest has already been registered. Lets not forget the Local Retailers we hear you say and we entirely agree. It is our belief that it won't be long before we see Reused Appliances for sale alongside New ones. In community terms this is excellent because of the EEESafe Model that seeks to ensure that “Community Assets” are kept local and out of the Waste Stream, contributing to the Circular Economy many people are talking about which is great news for the Poor and Impoverished of our country.
Because Retailers have a ready made customer base, then there is a case for growing a new arm to your retailing organisation and offering Repair services to your customer base. Working with existing repairers, EEESafe Domestic Appliance Technicians (DATs) or developing your own DATs through our EEESafe Training Programme , we can get more consumers involved in Sustainability issues whilst helping others in our own communities. The Programme is supported by Training Funds and our Learning Material and Lessons
We can just imagine Community organisations doing special deals on new Appliances as Manufacturers offer special deals, ONLY available at the local site. They want to promote their brand, what better way that to Partner with EEESafe and demonstrate their commitment to the Environment, Social, Local and Green Skills agendas of a Circular Economy.
