You may have recently seen or received promotional activities on Registering your Household Appliances. Well have you thought about what happens when you proceed to Register with the Manufacturers.
When you visit the Register which is controlled by Amdea (Manufacturers Trade Association), on behalf of the Manufacturers, you are asked to click on a Brand Name. For many of these brands, you are redirected to a well known organisation that sells household warranties. The now defunct Office of Fair Trading and even Which, and the BBC have published articles on Extended Warranties and their perceived values.
The point here is that it should be a choice and should be made aware before you support this Register. Did you know that this is happening and even though you have a choice not to receive any further marketing, does anyone really believe it is honored? Particularly when you understand many other 3rd party affiliated organisations are also involved with the manufacturers. Some of those use Safety as a means to sell you another service, which when offered to a vulnerable person leaves it wide open to being ethically correct. Safety First, not Sales First?
Why should you trust Manufactures with Safety Issues, when you just have to look at the recent Whirlpool fiasco, and the history of many other examples where they failed to notify you of a fire risk related to their products.
We believe that Manufacturers should not be able regulate their own safety, which is what the current government is supporting.
They are not alone, because many other reputable organisations and public servants are also supporting “Manufacture Self Regulation and Driving consumers extended warranty sales.”
According to Amdea's own register you can see who they are in this image?
We'd like to ask them all if they are aware of the Warranty link and if they agree with Manufacturers Self Regulation. Many of these organisations are there to support public safety, and we humbly ask them to consider where they stand in promoting this. Particularly as many of them are currently Tweeting to join this Register. Even the Consumer Organisation WHICH are promoting this practice by driving it's consumers to fall into this Safety Anomaly and Warranty Promotion.
We were the first to operate an independent Register for all Manufacturer Appliances and we've been telling them for years. It's only now that they've started to take notice and you can see their Petition with the new Working Group at this LINK. EEESafe are now being consulted by this group, and we hope to be part of a wider and holistic solution, that EEESafe has been promoting for a few years now.
If you register with us we'll keep an eye on any risk related to your Appliance. Ours offers evidenced Waste Prevention and Social outcomes, to a consumer standard that can be trusted. That's why we're called EEESafe. WEEE, without the Waste through promoting a higher standard of safety in the home, yet one that will deliver community benefits you can see, promote local repairs and helps tackle poverty. An Appliance Register that will soon offer a Certified Electrical Repair/Reuse Standard across Europe and International countries, that aligns, promotes and evidences a Safe Environmental and Circular Economy ethos where you live.
You can join our Register Now, and later you'll be placed into our new one. Despite our offer to work with Amdea, which remains ignored, we urge you to join us and support our call that Consumers Need an Alternative Register. Why, because Manufacturers have failed consumers repeatedly as we've seen. There will always be some people who don't trust them. They won't support Safe spares recycling. Our Safe Recycled Spares Model that prevent waste arisings, will support local repairers who care for the Environment and evidences tackling poverty and reduces harmful gases and air pollution.
