This is a recall but the Manufacturers are not calling it a Recall but consumers probably would.
A number of Bush and Haier washing machines have been withdrawn from the market because:-
An electrical component in the front control panel of the washing machine can overheat leading to a risk of fire and burns. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive.
This is a very similar issue to the one that triggered the recall of the Bosch, Neff, Siemens and Hotpoint dishwashers.
A Withdrawal Notice means that these products have a safety issue that is serious enough to stop them being sold. But what about the products that have already been sold?
In situations like this where items have been stopped from being sold, we believe should force the manufacturer to find and take back, or repair, those that have already been sold. To be fair to Argos, they've issued information now and you can find that HERE.
At EEESafe, we'd prefer to have them repaired by EEESafe Registered People or take them to the nearest centre where the Recall items are located. This could be found via our National Appliance Safety Register. We'd then see the local appliance go to a local centre who could use Quality Recycled Genuine Spares being used to keep the product going. Then it could be used to help someone local.
