Recently, Argos announced that two different models of washing machines they had sold had become part of a Product Recall. This meant that anyone who had purchased these appliances were risking the potential of a home bursting into flames. To identify if you have one of the models, watch this short video.
If you are a Landlord or Housing Association it's likely that you will be unaware if these appliances are in the homes of your tenants. If this is the case, then we can help. We can check your existing appliances for free if you register them online with our National Appliance Safety Register (NASR). No site visits are required and that's not all. We will continue to monitor them for Free through our Safety Alerts Service. Estate Agents can also benefit by offering to do this for their clients when they visit the premises for a Valuation.
If you have multiple properties, we'll give you a code that will enable us to provide you with a report of appliances within your properties. This will demonstrate your commitment to property and tenant safety as well as evidence your fire risk assessment under HMO Regulations.
Working with EEESafe also drives repair work back to local tradesmen/tradeswomen and makes more appliances available to them for repair work. At EESafe we can also provide evidence of Waste Prevention which is a positive for the environment. Furthermore, our business model also assists Landlords in the purchase of lower cost appliances from within their tenant community. Registering your appliances with us will also help prevent people who cannot afford a new appliance from spiraling into potential debt. Therefore, by engaging you'll be demonstrating your commitment to Social, Environmental and Local regeneration agendas.
For your information the above appliances were withdrawn from the market in May 2014. It was found that an electrical component in the front control panel of the washing machine can overheat leading to a risk of fire and burns. There have been almost 300 Product Recalls in the last 6/7 years and in 2011/12 there were 2000 fires caused by large domestic appliances.
EEESafe's focus is on having Competent White Goods Appliance Repairers conduct safe repairs to ensure that no Large Appliances subject to Product Recalls reach any household in the United Kingdom. Consumers can recognise appliances and repairers by looking for the Registered Labels.
