We're pleased and proud to inform our supporters and readers that EEESafe is included in the Tool kits used to promote Electrical Safety Week 2014.
We have just been informed by the lead of the CFOA (Chief Fire Officers Association) that details of our National Appliance Safety Register was sent to every Fire Authority in the United Kingdom.
Together with Electrical Safety First, our Register is to be included in their forthcoming national campaign raising consumer awareness of the dangers of Electrical Fires in the home. This is the Governments' Fire Kills campaign which is run annually and seeks to reduce all fires caused by all electrical appliances in the home.
Large Appliances are of great concern because the location of many of them are unknown and when classed as a Product Recall, pose a significant fire risk, according to Andy Reynolds of the CFOA which you can see from this article.
Recently the CFOA were also involved in the Ageing Safely Week where research shows that the risk of those dying in a fire for those over the age of 65 is more than twice as high of the average of all ages. With that in mind we believe its even more important to ensure that all homes register their appliances with an independent appliance repair and reuse standard. Please ensure all your family and friends are aware of this Free service, which has strong community links and supports sustainable standards through its Registered Appliance Repairers network.
Watch out for EEESafe's Community Resource Hubs also, who will have Trusted Registered Repairers, independently assessed for competence and cleared by the DBS Service, giving rise to a sustainable and safe community repair network.
