The Death of the Local Repairer?
What is a Parallel Economy
In this milestone blog entry we announce that we are finally launching a new Award Winning model to engage communities to help build their own Local Repairers Circular Economy. It’s designed to deliver Safer Homes, Competent and assessed electrical item repairers, more local repair jobs, record Carbon and Waste saved metrics (Per Person, Per Community, Per Repairer) and divert recyclable spares locally to reduce repair costs to help protect our environment.
Did you know there is no independent standard for consumers to measure the competence of an Electrical Appliance Repairer, and that a PAT Test only means an item is safe to switch on?
With over 55+ years combined experience of the sector, EEESafe has devised an Electrical Appliance Repair Safety Standard to offer a brand that consumers can trust and know that its delivering increased safety in the home, increasing local repair work and is evidencing its Environmental and Social credentials.
Did you know that over 50% of repairable items are leaving your community and it’s likely to continue increasing?
Most are collected by companies that deliver new goods and provide jobs to other Stakeholders in the Waste Collection industry, 100’s of miles from where you live. Spares also leave the community that could be helped to lower costs.
Did you know that EEESafe released the 1st independent Appliance Safety Register? Early next year we’re launching our new version which will now also help raise funds for citizens in need.
We’d like consumers and repairers to join us by registering your appliances in our updated Appliance Safety Register. Your registered items can help ensure goods and spares stay locally, to help lower costs and start to put money and jobs back into your local community. We can then divert goods and repair work to Local Certified and Verified Repairers who have to report repairs via EEESafe. Together Consumer and Repairer become part of a new Local Circular Economy with benefits for all in the Community.
Did you know that stakeholders such as Government, Retailers and Manufacturers are starting to push lease rental models that could mean you lose the Right To Own a product?
This could lead to a monopoly on data and control of repair costs. Your IOT goods will also give them exclusive data which prevents the growth of independent repairers and reduces green skills in your local community. Many citizens can not afford these rental commitments
And the MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, Registering your items with EEESafe is going to ENGAGE YOUR COMMUNITY with a United Nations Global Solution to tackle POVERTY, THE ENVIRONMENT and form better GOVERNMENT POLICIES for a BETTER WORLD.
